The program enables eligible blind, elderly,
and disabled persons to receive assigned and specialized care in their homes, which allows the individuals to avoid or delay their
move to a nursing home. Services are provided at no cost to participant(s).

Centers serve as
a community focal point where an array of services and programs can be channeled to individuals who are 60 or older. The service
is free, but donations are accepted.
Services include social activities,
nutrition education, health counseling, consumer education, recreation and exercise, hot meals, information and referral.
Home
Delivered Meals
Eligible senior citizens can receive home-delivered frozen meals which are delivered once a week.
Qualifications are
based on need and must be age 60 years and older.
Ombudsman
and Legal Assistance
Investigates complaints and answers
questions from seniors and their families concerning nursing homes and assisted living facilities;
Legal
Assistance Referral Program: Clients may speak to an
attorney concerning insurance coverage, estate planning, food stamps, and other legal
issues.
Preventive Health
The agency offers health screenings, nutrition
counseling, exercise, medication screening, health assessments, and health promotion programs at
Senior Centers.
Information, Outreach, and Referral
Area Agency on Aging Staff working in conjunction with Alagasco to bring Seniors in the Lee & Russell County Area a brighter holiday season.
Health Insurance Counseling
Produces the Rainbow Book,
a list of services for seniors
Coordinates
the Annual Senior Citizens Picnic which is held annually to honor senior citizens
in Lee and Russell Counties.
Participates in the Rebuilding Together of Lee County one day home rebuidling project.
This is a Non-profit foundation that
accepts donations for Area Agency on Aging programs; Donations are used to provide meals and other needed services
to the elderly in both counties.
The Annual Unforgettable Footsteps Mardi Gras Walk/Run benefiting clients with dementia related illnesses, including but not limited to Adult Day Care Services, Prescription Services, Nutrition Services and In-Home care services
Program helps eligible
individuals age 55-64 and older receive medications at little
or no cost to them.
Fascilitates preventitive health care screenings and medication coordination.
Glucerna & Ensure Supplemental Nutrition: Help is available for individuals needing assistance with supplemental nutrition. The Area Agency on Aging can assist individuals 55 and over that meet the income guidelines for assistance. Please call (334) 749-5264 ext.250 for more information.

This program provides subsidized, part-time employment opportunities for persons age 55 or older and who have a limited household income.
The goal of this program is for the workers to move from subsidized job placement to unsubsidized job placement within their community.
State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) / Senior Medicare Patrol Program (SMPP)
Provide older individual with consumer education and counseling enabling them to understand Medicare, Medicaid, Long-Term Care Insurance, as well as other health insurance options.
Non-profit 501c3 foundation that accepts donations that are used to supplement available resources and services for the elderly. 100% of all donations are used for client services. Donations may be routed via check to the Lee-Russell Aging Foundation Donations, 2207 Gateway Drive, Opelika, AL 36801.
